Action acquires Northern New Jersey, Rockland and Orange County of NY assets of Interstate Waste Services

Advanced Disposal Services Inc. has sold its New York and New Jersey waste and recycling assets to the Action Environmental Group for an undisclosed amount.

The Ponte Vedra, Fla.-based Advanced Disposal sold the assets as a strategic decision, says President Richard Burke.The Department of Justice DOJ has ordered Advanced Disposal to sell two transfer stations in its approval of the sale of Veolia ES Solid Waste Inc. to Advanced Disposal owner Highstar Capital.This lastest deal was not connected to the order, which Bruke says the company plans to comply with by the end of the year.

The Newark, N.J.-based Action Environmental Group is a waste and recycling service provider serving New York City and northern New Jersey. It also serves throughout New York and New Jersey.

The specific assets divested in the deal include collection operations in Chester and Sloatsburg, N.Y., and Jersey City and Paterson, N.J.; transfer station operations in Chestnut Ridge, Goshen, Hilburn, Newburgh, New Hampton and Port Jervis, N.Y., and Jersey City and Garfield, N.J.; and a recycling facility in Airmont, N.Y., according to a news release.

The transfer stations to be sold include two permits for stations in Paterson, N.J., and one in Totowa, N.J.

“We are excited about re-entering northern New Jersey and lower New York state,” said Action Chairman Michael DiBella.
