Research company Energage, surveyed employees at participating workplaces. The information received was then compiled and evaluated based on key areas such as directions of the company, whether or not they feel valued, and if the workplace culture allows for open communication.
Here at Action, we like to take part in some healthy competition. September 7th kicked off our companywide walking competition known as the Super Stroll Challenge, provided by Walkingspree. Our employees were placed into teams of 3-6, where they improved their fitness and tracked their activity. At the end of the challenge, there were 2 categories of winners: team and individual. The group that walked to victory was the Chester Ladies! This winning team includes Crystal Cabezal, Deb Maldonado, and Kathy Smith from Dispatch as well as April Levine and Donna Lazar from Billing.
It saddens us to think of all of those effected by the various natural disasters over the past few weeks. Heartbroken for those who were effected by the hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Caribbean and the earthquake that left Mexico City in ruins.
We love to highlight when members of our team donate their time outside of work for causes they feel passionate about. Today Patty Granados from Risk is donating her time to honor a dear friend. Here is her story…
Our very own Gina Wintermute from finance is acting fast after this past weeks hurricane in Texas. After this devastating storm, the animal shelter in Port Lavaca was wiped out so they are in need of supplies. The local rescue organization, Big Dog Rescue Project is stepping in.
My name is Yamayra Alvarez from Brooklyn Dispatch at Action. My nephew Myan has 3 heart diseases. Myan had open heart surgery when he was 2 months old and another two surgeries in 2015 and early 2016. Myan’s mother Michelle Velez is an open book when it comes to raising a child with a Congenital Heart Defect. This year on October 15th we are hoping to get a team of people to help support Myan and all those effected by congenital heart disease by participating in a walk. Read more here about Michelle’s story and the details of the fundraiser!
Here at Action we believe that everyone is entitled to a second chance and that one person’s past shouldn’t define their future. Nothing echoes this belief more than the work we have done over the years the Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO).
Our CEO, Ron Bergamini will be participating with the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund event on a panel discussing the city’s zero waste goals.
By 2030 the city’s goal is to eliminate waste from going to landfills from residential buildings, commercial establishments, and other large generators of waste. In order to achieve the Zero Waste goal, the city needs to figure out solutions for various complex questions, like where the City’s residential and commercial waste will go instead of landfills and how will we get it there.
Every year the NWRA honors drivers who operate their trucks in a safe and responsible manner by holding the Driver of the Year awards. The drivers who are nominated have outstanding performance records, and whose contributions have enhanced the overall safety and image of the solid waste industry. This competition is a great way to recognize your best and safest drivers.
This year we are proud that two of our own were nominated for this award.
Whether you’re celebrating your dad, grandpa, stepdad, or, dad-in-law Father’s Day is a time to recognize and appreciate all of the love and guidance the special men in our lives provide us with. Here at Action we decided to go around the office and ask about everyones fathers and their impact on them. We asked them to either share a favorite piece of advice, ranging from dating to life in general, the funniest classic dad joke, or special memory. Let’s see what the team has to share!
