Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Emerson Riter

Giving you an up-close look at the impact that the Hope and Heroes organization and Columbia University Medical Center has on the children it treats in the tri-state.

Emerson Riter was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was two years old. She spent the next two and half years in treatment. Support from Hope & Heroes helped Emerson and her family throughout her treatment at Columbia thanks to services like our integrative therapies program.

Emerson is now nine years old and is four years cancer FREE! Hope & Heroes continues to support Emerson & her family through our Survivor Wellness program, providing health services and guidance as she continues in survivorship. Emerson loves school, swimming, skiing and spending time with her brother

Hear Emerson tell her story in her own words.
