Ron joined Action as CEO in April 2007 after a twenty-year career as an attorney representing various sectors of the business community, including many organizations in the solid waste and recycling industries. Immediately before joining Action, he served as General Counsel to Interstate Waste Services.
He received his undergraduate degree in Finance, from New York University and his JD from Suffolk University in Boston, MA. Presently, Ron sits on the advisory board of the NYC Business Integrity Commission. He is also a member of the Green Business Committee of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce and the NYC Citizens Budget Commission.
Ron is the Vice President of the Columbians, a philanthropic organization in Bergen County, and a former columnist for BC magazines for five years. Ron and his partner Mike DiBella have also supported Hopes and Heroes, Wounded Warriors and the Octoberwoman foundation. For over ten years, Ron has participated with PENCIL, an organization that inspires innovation and improves student achievement by partnering business leaders with public schools. Currently, Ron and Action have partnered with the Lou Gehrig Middle School to create their own environmental club to address environmental issues within their community.
Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors
Mike's career in the solid waste industry spans more than twenty-five years. In 1985, he started as a driver for a family-owned business, DiBella Sanitation, Inc. and eventually worked his way through all aspects of the operation. Mike left DiBella in 1998 as General Manager.
In 1992, Mike started his own solid waste collection company, Environmental Waste Industries, Inc. in Albany, NY where he was Chief Operating Officer until 1998. That same year, he founded Interstate Waste Services, which serves northern New Jersey and southern New York State. Mike was Chief Operating Officer at Interstate for nearly six years.
He joined Action in April 2007 and expanded the company into one of the largest private and innovative provider of non-hazardous waste management services for the City of New York. Today, the Action Environmental Group is a regional company with the purchase of Interstate Waste Services. Mike also led the innovation for the purchase and implementation of the Optical Sorter, a state-of-the-art recycling facility that will allow Action to divert more waste from the landfill.
Chief Financial Officer
Brian Giambagno is an accomplished financial professional with over 20 years of public accounting and industry experience. He has in-depth knowledge of various industries including business services, technology, manufacturing and distribution. Brian also has a wealth of experience in managing mid-market enterprises including private equity and banking relationships.
Prior to joining Action, Brian was CFO of Hudson News Distributors. Brian began his career with Deloitte & Touche and then he moved on to hold various finance and operating roles at Berlitz International, Inc., Bowne & Co. and Global Document Solutions, Inc. Mr. Giambagno, who is a certified public accountant, earned a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from Rutgers College. He also holds an MBA from Rutgers Graduate School of Management.
